Obituary for Robert Kienzle

Kienzle, Robert

Passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022 at the age of 74 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Robert was the loving and beloved husband of Diane. They shared 15 wonderful years together. He was predeceased by his parents, Roy (1969) and Lorraine (2010). He will be deeply missed by the many friends that he made throughout his lifetime in work and in play, as well as his wonderful neighborhood friends. He will be especially missed by his dear cousins, Cathy Drown and Diane Kardas who he considered to be loving and caring sisters. Also deeply missed by his church family.

Bob also considered himself to be a very fortunate person in that he always had a stimulating work life with many interesting experiences. During his last years in formal education, he was a co-op student at the University of Waterloo in the Parks and Recreation and Kinesiology department. He was fortunate to experience different environments, including work with special needs children and adults, a term in ice hockey in an Ottawa arena, and a lengthy term at Seneca College in the Recreations department. He worked in the township of Woolwich for 5 years as director of Parks and Recreation. He then went to Etobicoke as assistant supervisor at Hollycrest Community School and after 6 months he was given the opportunity at Thistletown Community School. He then returned to the city of Etobicoke as a facility program manager at the Etobicoke Olympium. He worked tirelessly and with great creative imagination for 17 years. Following this he drove for a limousine service for 7 years, enjoying the varied clients he met. Afterwards, he drove a school bus for another 7 years. Again, he enjoyed meeting the special needs children. Everyone had their own personalities and ways of doing things.

Bob was single until the age of 58, found and married the love of his life at age 60. Diane added much more to his life than he could have ever imagined.

Bob's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519) 749-8467. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 131 Flax Mill Dr., Conestogo on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11 a.m.
