Obituary for Rita Buhlman

Rita Ann Buhlman

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Buhlman (nee Daly) surrounded by family on March 11, 2023, at the age of 84 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rita leaves behind Ken, her best friend and adoring husband of 64 years. She was the backbone to her family and the loving and devoted mother to Mark (Erika), Michelle MacDonald (Paul), Michael (Louise) and Kevin. Nana to Courtney Buhlman, Katrina Buhlman, Colin Buhlman (Brittany), Justin Buhlman, Nick Buhlman (Michelle), Alyx Cantwell (Jamie) and Simon Buhlman (Jessica). She was also Nana to her great-grandchildren Henley, Braelynn, Aubree, and Nolan. Loving sister to her surviving brother Frank Daly.

Rita looked forward each winter to well-earned time off, relaxing in the sunshine and walking along the shoreline of her beloved Madeira Beach. She never met a casino she didn't like. She used her lucky Irish hand at the lottery, loved playing cards, was an avid reader and fabulous baker. Nana's delectable rhubarb, peach and Dutch apple pies, butter tarts and brownies among others, will be sorely missed. Nothing made her happier than spending time with family and friends, laughing and making memories that we will always cherish.

We would also like to extend thanks to Dr. Graczyk, Dr. Russek and Dr. O'Brien for their exceptional care. We will never forget the amazing nurses of Grand River Hospital and Freeport Hospice.

Rita's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
