Obituary for Richard "Ric" Stark

Stark, Richard Desmond

With great sadness we announce that Ric passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the age of 55.

Beloved husband of Mel. Proud and devoted father of Ethan and Olivia. Beloved son of Gail. Predeceased by his Dad Wayne Funnell. It always held a special place in his heart that Wayne had "chosen" him to be his son. Dear brother of Tami Bandoni (Scott). Son-in-law of Mike and Mary Lou Barney and brother-in-law of Shawn Barney. Loving uncle of Andrew.

Ric worked for Zehrs for 23 years He left in 2022 because of symptoms from his yet to be diagnosed ALS. This allowed him to be home to spend all his time with Mel and the kids. In July of 2022 he was diagnosed with ALS. He put up a brave fight until it took him from us suddenly. He was an avid sports fan always ready to share his knowledge and opinions with anyone ready to listen and share.

Ric loved listening to Prince every chance he got. If he was just sitting outside or driving in the car Prince was always playing and he was quick to share how talented Prince was whenever the subject of music arose. Ric loved spending time with all his family and always looked forward to getting together and being able to hang out chatting, playing euchre or his many poker games. Please join us in celebrating Ric's life during his service by wearing your sports wear or something purple for his love of Prince.

A special thank you to Dr. Gladman and his team for all the time and support given in the last year. Thank you to Ric's Psw's for their daily visits and extra help, as well as the ALS society. I would also like to thank Paula for all her help to Ric and myself throughout our journey in the last few years.

Peace "B" Wild
