Obituary for Rev. R. Douglas Lindsay

Lindsay, Reverend Raye Douglas B.A. - Promoted to Glory on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Innisfree House, Kitchener after a courageous battle with cancer. Doug of Kitchener, formerly of Truro, Scarborough, Thunder Bay, Flin Flon, Winnipeg, Maple Creek, Toronto and many places in between, was 81 years of age.

Beloved husband of the late Sandra Lindsay (nee Keddy) for 57 years. Dear father of Ian (Kelley) of Andover, MN, Bruce (Dana) of Peterborough, ON, Dawn (Phillip Dykeman) of Truro, NS, and Heather (Derek Whitehouse) of Bradenton, FL.

Proud Grandpa of Eleanor, Isabel, Clifford, Emma, Sarah, Thomas, Samuel, Lianna (Nathaniel Singer), Elijah, Victoria, Connor (Kelly), Adrianna, Laura Grace and Carson.

Much loved brother-in-law of Jim Keddy (Carol) and the late Robert Keddy (surviving wife Eva) and Carol Simunic (Emil). Son of the late Dorothy Martin. Doug graduated from the Salvation Army College in Toronto, where he met Sandra and fell in love. He graduated and was posted to a church in Maple Creek, SK. He began a long distance relationship with Sandra who was posted in Tweed, ON. They married and served as assistant pastors in Winnipeg, MB, where Ian was born.

Many times Doug and Sandra prayed for God's direction and He never failed to lead them. From Manitoba, they went to pastor in Flin Flon, where Bruce was born. They then pastored in Thunder Bay, where Dawn and Heather (twins) were born. While there, Doug hosted a call-in Christian radio show that became very popular. He also became a ventriloquist and "Ronny" joined the family. Doug next moved the family to Scarborough, ON, to pastor there. Doug later took a position at the Head Office of PAOC as Dominion Commissioner for Crusaders. This gave him opportunities to travel around the world to visit churches and speak to young people and youth leaders. With Ronny, his dummy, Doug was able to instantly connect with young people and make them laugh, while giving them a Christian message. Being called back to pastor, Doug moved to Truro, NS, where he stayed until moving to Kitchener where he and Sandra commuted to work at the Mississauga office of Wycliffe Bible Translators where Doug was office manager. During this time they purchased a cottage at Braeside Camp, where they took time to rest, hosted family gatherings and made many happy memories for their grandchildren.

The Lindsay home and cottage always had an open door where you would be welcomed to stay for a night or a week. Their hospitality would include a delicious meal, great conversation, and a departing prayer.

Doug and Sandra enjoyed traveling. Summer vacations were a highlight, pulling a trailer and a station-wagon full of kids. Together, they visited several countries over the years.

An amazing Spirit-filled man of God, Doug knew God's voice and would pray with faith, expecting God to answer. God always proved Himself faithful.

A memorial service will be held at Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, 395 King Street, Waterloo, ON on Wednesday, March 15th, at 11 am. Visiting will be one hour prior (10-11 am).
