Condolence From: gary mcmillan
Condolence: Dear The special family of a special gentleman. The broad smile, the big hello, the warmth of a compassionate heart, and Pastor Jim's hands of tenderness that were always warm and comfortable. His entire being was comfortable, like an old shoe, because when you put them on, your foundation was sure and and your pilgrimage walk was based on being there before. When ever we met, his smile slew me, and his genuine greeting was always the same: "HELLO FRIEND." And even without speaking, his message was always the same, humility and love in action. Phil.2: 1-16

Condolence From: David and Jacquie Herron
Condolence: Dear Adrienne and family, You are in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead, as you have suffered a great loss. Adrienne, you and your husband were an incredible blessing at Shenstone, when you stepped into ministry, while we were searching for a Pastor. You touched my heart with your love, kindness and commitment to Christ. I will always remember Pastor Reese bursting into song in the midst of his sermon, with that wonderful booming voice of his. What a delight and a blessing! I am looking forward to the day we will all sing together in the presence of our Wonderful Savior! May God fill you with his peace and sustain you until that day. Love, David and Jacquie Herron

Condolence From: Sorina & Angelo Ciucurita
Condolence: Dear Adrienne and Family, We feel privileged to have had Pastor Jim Reese as OUR Pastor for over 10 years. Trying to adjust to the Canadian culture and having arrived in the middle of a recession wasn’t easy. Pastor Jim’s and Adrienne’s words of encouragement, wise advice and unwavering faith were crucial, when what we saw around us (i.e. people losing jobs and houses) was not at all encouraging. With gratitude we remember those times, and many other occasions that followed, which made the chapter of faith (Hebrew 11) so real to us. Without the support of our immediate family (who was 8,000 kilometers away) we were reminded once again to have “confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrew 11:1). And what better example of faith in action than Pastor Jim and Adrienne Reese! We will be forever grateful and have you in our hearts! With love, Sorina and Angelo Ciucurita

Condolence: We were blessed to enjoy the ministry of Jim and Adrienne at West Highland Baptist Church (Hamilton) approximately 10 years ago, where Jim served as the interim-pastor. His messages were always sincere, powerful, and very engaging. Jim had a memorable and gifted talent as a pastor - one of the very best. Our deepest condolences to Adrienne and family at this time.

Condolence From: Lloyd & Eleanor McDonald
Condolence: We will always have thanksgivings in our hearts for Pastor Reese. Under his leadership, Benton took on support for us when we served with Trans World Radio, and entertained us in your home. He read Lloyd's poem so meaningfully, "The River Grand," at the funeral of our son, Daniel, and sang, as only he could, "Just think of stepping on shore and finding it heaven." The overall memory of him is his gracious and loving spirit which we were privileged to experience. Our prayers will continue for you, Adrienne, and for your family in the days ahead. What a great helpmeet you were to Pastor Reese!

Condolence From: David Wilson
Condolence: Dear Family of Pastor Jim, Blessed to have been under his ministry with Arnold MacNeil back in their Benton St. days I recall my father, Harry Wilson (now with his wife Carol gone on ahead), said to me that Pastor Reeves was to him the most excellent example of humility and someone who did not seek his own - someone as talented as senior Pastor MacNeil who didn't think anything of stepping back and serving wherever necessary with grace and a kindliness that I remember always radiating out of him. My condolences on the temporary loss of contact with your beloved father and husband in the glorious hope of the reconnection of the Resurrection, David Wilson

Condolence: I would just like to say I was so honored to be able to know this wonderful inspirational man through out all the years. If anyone knew the Lord and followed Him it was pastor Reese. Thanks for always being there when grandma and grandpa passed and dad; you always made me feel that they were finally home with the Lord. And when I would always bump into you, you never once forgot who I was throughout the years. You were a true disciple of God. Finally you are home! RIP

Condolence: Jane and I will always have fond memories of Pastor Jim Reese who sang for our wedding at Benton Street in 1979. Among other songs was Jim's own composiiton, "Father, Keep Your Hands on Them" which was particularly meaningful. 40 years later we can attest that He truly has. Since we now live in South Carolina and won't be able to attend the Memorial Service please know that our thoughts and prayers are with Adrienne and the entire family.

Condolence From: Sammy Tofan
Condolence: This man had such a profound effect on my life from the day I met him. He allowed Tabby and I to get married in his church. He even officiated our marriage ceremony. The way he carried himself was inspiring! He was a champion of bringing the Kingdom of God into the community and the city he lived in. KW will forever remember him as the founder of Christian Horizons. Jim leaves behind a legacy worthy of the rank of Legend for KW and beyond. Thank you for paving the way!

Condolence From: Jim and Pat McDowell
Condolence: Jim had a large and positive influence on me. I expect hundreds of others will say this, too, and likely thousands could. It started in my teens when he and Ken Campbell ministered at Stouffville Youth for Christ, continued through the opportunity to accompany and assist these men to an evangelistic series in Saskatchewan, and then picked up again after we settled in Kitchener in 1991. Every meeting with Jim resulted in a sense of refreshment in God's love, encouragement in following Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. With others, Pat and I remember how Jim, and often Adrienne too, would pass through a crowd of people, greeting with a smile and a carefully chosen word for the occasion. In my retirement years, I was privileged to serve as a relief worker in a Christian Horizons home, where again the influence of Jim was obvious to me. Jim's presence in the larger Christian community of KW and Ontario also touched many lives, including ours, through music, preaching and above all, example. We'll miss him a lot!

Condolence: Dear Adrienne, Beth, Paul, Steven, Dan & Phil et al: My deepest sympathy to you all now in this time of sorrow & yet rejoicing for the blessed homecoming for Jim. It has been many years since Emmanuel Baptist days but the influence & encouragement, teaching & training from Jim's ministry & Adrienne's Sunday School class lessons & our friendship during those years all are precious threads in the tapestry of my life. By word & example it taught me 'Jesus is & must be #1'. He still is! Praying that He will comfort your hearts in this time & help you through the adjustments. Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Condolence: Jim so often spoke and sang about heaven. He expressed genuine joy about his assurance of going there. I rejoice having known him as pastor, mentor and friend. Today is the first Saturday that I miss that prayer. To Adrienne and all of your wonderful family my heart-felt condolences.

Condolence: Words cannot explain how I feel hearing this sad news. Sad only for those who are left behind. Pastor Reese is now resting with his dear Lord Jesus and no longer suffering. Praise the Lord. My memories go back to when I first began working with Christian Horizons in September 1990, too many to even mention, but, what an amazing gentleman. He will be greatly missed by many including myself. R.I.P. servant of God.
