Reese, Rev. James:

James Reese entered his long-anticipated home with Jesus in Heaven on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the age of 85.

Blest husband of his beloved Adrienne (nee Kerr) for 62 years.
Grateful father of Beth (Wes Woof), Paul (Lydia Lazar), Steven (the inspiration for the founding of Christian Horizons), Dan (Melody Farr) and Phil (Shirley Conover).
Thankful grandfather of 14 – Laura (Ryan), Krista (Luke), Jonathan (Sasha), Andrew (Carly), David (Erika), Keziah, Greg (Amy), Allison, Elizabeth, Sam, Caleb, Thomas, Philip and Nathan.
And great-grandfather of 3 - Reese, Holly and Drew.

Jim was raised in a pastor’s home by his parents, Harold (d. 2001) and Margaret (d. 1996) Reese in Williamston, Michigan. Also predeceased by two brothers, Tim (1987) and John (1962).

He graduated from Bryan College (TN) and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (MI) and pastored 4 years at Moline Baptist Church in Michigan. Moving to Canada in 1961 he served with Ken Campbell for 17 years with the Campbell-Reese Evangelistic Association, conducting about 500 evangelistic missions across North America and overseas. In 1978 he became a pastor at Benton Street Baptist Church in Kitchener for 25 years. From 2003 to 2015 he served 11 interim pastorates across southern Ontario. See www.jimreeseministries.com.

Two years after Steven’s birth, Jim founded Christian Horizons in 1965 which now serves thousands of persons experiencing developmental challenges in Canada and several developing nations around the world. See www.christian-horizons.org.

Jim's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A private committal will be held at Woodland Cemetery prior to the service. The funeral celebration will be held at Benton St. Baptist Church, 90 Benton St., Kitchener on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception in the Fellowship Hall to follow.
