Obituary for Peter Graham Shalay
Shalay, Peter Graham:
Went home to be with the Lord peacefully, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, with his parents by his side, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Kitchener, ON at the age of 57.
Peter was the special chosen son of Stan and Aileen Shalay.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his chosen sister, Kimberly Anne Miller-Randell (Dexter), of Englee, NL, and by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is fondly remembered by the Vachon family.
Predeceased by his chosen brother Stephen (1992) and niece Alicia (2021).
Peter attended classes for the autistic up to the age 18, then he was transferred to Habilitation Services - the Adult Development Program for 35 years. Thanks to the staff of these various programs, for their many years of devoted service to Peter.
For 34 years, Peter enjoyed the summer months at the cottage in Haliburton - swimming, boating, and outside activities.
Following a stroke earlier this year, Peter resided at Columbia Forest LTC for about six months. Thank you to the staff of Dickson House for your loving and attentive care.
Peter was a kind, gentle and happy soul. He will be missed by many, especially those who called him "Buddy"
As a baby, Peter was dedicated to the Lord in Calvary Baptist Church, Brantford. He was an adherent of Stanley Park Baptist Church, Kitchener, for 53 years.
Peter's family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, and from 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM, on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral will take place in the chapel at 10:30 AM. Reception to follow. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, in Breslau.
