Obituary for Osvaldo Mosti

Osvaldo Mosti
On May 11th, 2020, Osvaldo Mosti passed away peacefully at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
He leaves behind his wife Irene, and two daughters, Carolina and Florencia.
Osvaldo was born in Cairo, Egypt but he held onto his Italian roots for life. He was born into a large family to parents Luis and Rosario and sibling to Fortunata, Guido, Adriano, Liliana, Raimondo, Livio, Luciano, and Bruno. In 1960, his family immigrated to Argentina, where he met his wife Irene during a beach holiday in Pinamar. They married in 1975. His first daughter Carolina was born in 1977, and six years later his second daughter, Florencia was born. In 1987, Osvaldo moved to Canada, and three years later, the rest of the family joined him.
Osvaldo was an engineer, an avid swimmer, a photographer and a scuba diver. He had a gift for language. He was fluent in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Arabic. He enjoyed listening to classical music and watching James Bond movies.
His daughters were a big part of his life and have some fond memories of him.
Osvaldo and Carolina shared some special trips. They had the opportunity to visit his cousin Claudette and her family in Cairo in 2008. Osvaldo had not been back to Egypt since he left. He was surprised to see that McDonald’s and KFC were within a stone’s throw away from the pyramids. They also travelled to Argentina in 2012 where Osvaldo was reunited with his family. Finally, Carolina and Osvaldo went to Cuba together, coincidentally departing on May 11th, 2016.
Osvaldo and Florencia spent a lot of quality time together. They shared a love for food and coffee. They would often take trips to different coffee shops around town. On special occasions, they would either cook or go out for a seafood feast. She will always remember his characteristic bushy moustache.
Osvaldo left us during a time we will not forget; during a world pandemic, on a day that started with snow falling in May and ended with a beautiful sunset. Now, every time we observe a sunset, we will think of you. We love you.
