Obituary for Nina Jean Brown

Brown, Nina Jean (nee Hughes):

Nina passed away peacefully on May 25, 2019 at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of the late F. Harry Brown for 65 years.
Loving mother of Judy Brown, Kim Brown (Loretta) and Hughbee Brown (Carolyn).
Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Eric (Ariel), Alex, Luke, Samantha and Darian.
She leaves behind one great-grandchild, Foster Richard Brown.
Dear sister of Pat (Al), Ross (Leta), Grant (Karen) and Allan (Joanna),
Will be remembered by her sister-in-law Jean Brown.
Predeceased by her husband Harry (2018), their son Richard (1964) and her parents, Hugh and Pearl Hughes.

Nina sang publicly from an early age, meeting her future husband Harry through the Junior Farmer's Choir. They married in 1952 and farmed until the early 1960s when, with their four children, they moved to Kitchener. Raising her children and supporting her husband were Nina's most cherished tasks. Once her children were grown, Nina worked for years at Fudges dress shop in Waterloo.

Music, cottage life, playing games and spending time with people were Nina's favourite leisure pursuits. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Memorial United church choir and throughout their lives, she and Harry would be known for their duets, For 30+ years, many summers were spent at their 2nd home, their cottage in Southampton, making many good friends. She loved gathering with friends and family and could always by enticed into playing a game of Euchre or competing in tennis.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467. Reception to follow. In keeping with Nina's love of colour, the family welcomes friends to wear bright clothing to her Celebration of Life. Private family interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Canada or Calvary Memorial United Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
