Kirley, Michael “Mike” Gerard
The Kirley family is sad to announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Kirley, born to Austin and Jean Kirley on April 2, 1946 in Lindsay, Ontario. Michael passed away on January 6, 2023 while family surrounded him with music and love.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Kirley, and their children, Daniel, Colin, and Katie and daughter in law Stacey White. He was a beloved grandfather to Lindsay, Marlowe, Charlotte, and Carys. Michael is predeceased by his brother Brian and survived by his brother Peter and sisters Elizabeth, Margaret (Peggy), Mary, Martha, and Lauren, sisters-in-law Maria and Troy Kirley, and brothers-in-law Jerry Switzer, James Feehely, William Schiller, John Di Leonardo, and John Tarter.
Mike was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, teacher and musical friend and mentor. He was a creative soul who found good stories and songs in everything around him. Mike loved to laugh and share laughter with others. He took care in helping people and his generous and encouraging nature guided many students and musicians. “Proud Papa” will be greatly missed, but his love and spirit will be reflected in the people he helped throughout the years and songs to come.
Special thank you to the staff of Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Lisaard House for their compassionate care of Michael and for helping him pass in peace and comfort. Additional thank you to Henry Walser Funeral Home for its thoughtful and professional management of Michael’s arrangements.
A Celebration Of Life will be held in the spring of 2023.
