Obituary for Mary Lou Villeneuve

Villeneuve, Mary Lou (nee Schenk):

On the morning of June 1, 2022, at Freeport Hospital at the age of 71, Mary Lou passed away with her loving family by her side. Her spirit will be cherished by her husband of 44 years, Rudy Villeneuve, and she will be greatly missed by her children, Carrie and Chad. She is survived by her sister Marj Green, sister-in-law Diane Furlong, and brothers-in-law Dennis, Lou, and Bruce Villeneuve. She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Rosaleen Schenk, and brother, Jack.

When at home, Mary Lou enjoyed cooking, painting, reading, and tending her garden. For many years, she was an enthusiastic Brownie leader, where she shared her love of the outdoors and knowledge of plants and wildflowers.

When not at home, Mary Lou was camping, hiking, canoeing, and boating the many parks and lakes of Ontario. Mary Lou and Rudy spent many years boating the Trent-Severn Waterway on their cabin cruiser “Honey”, and for the last few years had settled for a summer spot on Balsam Lake, where Mary Lou enjoyed fishing with Rudy off their newest boat, “Cheeky”. She loved her camera and the wildlife around her at the lake, taking many photos of wildflowers, animals, and birds, and sharing them with friends and family.
Cremation has taken place. Mary Lou's family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on June 9, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
