Obituary for Joan Hipel

Hipel, Joan:

Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in her home at Fairview Mennonite Home at the age of 88. She leaves behind her four loving children, Wendy (Tim) Beirnes, David Hipel, Jim (Jennifer) Hipel, Nancy (Scott) Martin. Her grandchildren Kerri Beirnes (Mike Caskanette), Kristin (Chris) Donnelly, Allison (Ryan) Dowler, Kaylee (Curtis) Taylor, Lindsay (Andrew) Schmidt, Troy (Jess) Beirnes, Jacob (Kelly Doyle) Hipel, Kadison Hipel, Tyler (Tamara) Martin and Jayden Hipel will fondly remember her. Joan was a great-grandmother to Destiny, Lucas, Leah, Adalyn, Peighton, Fiona, Owen, Paisley, Karissa, Easton, Nolan, Easton, Hailey, and Olivia who will all miss her. She is survived by her sisters Gwen and Helen, and her brother Robert. She is predeceased by her sister Carol Bardot, grandson Aaron and great-granddaughter Logan. Joan was also predeceased by her loving husband Roy Hipel in 2011. Joan was a lifelong member of the Maplegrove Women's Institute and a member of Trillium United Church in Cambridge.

Joan's family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 and 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Joan's relatives and friends are welcome to meet the family from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 in the Auditorium at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Dr., Cambridge, ON, N3H 4L6. A private family service will take place in the funeral home chapel.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a medical fund for Joan's great-grandson, Nolan Caskanette, with respect to spinal muscular atrophy, cheques payable to Kerri Beirnes, or the Ronald McDonald House Charities - South Central Ontario Hamilton would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home and during vitiation).
