Passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 at Innisfree House, Kitchener, ON at the remarkable age of 108.
Treasured and adored mother of Beatrice (Bonnie) Miller and her husband Carl. Loving grandmother of Frederick Miller (Wendy), Suzanne Hoefnagels (Leo) and Alexandra Hill (Dave). Amazing Great-Grandmother of Michaella and Mackenzie Miller, Katlyn LaFleur (Nolan); Levi and Laura Hoefnagels. Dear sister-in-law of Doreen Matheson (Fred) and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Mary was born to her late parents Pasquale (Patrick) and Jennie Giovinazzo on March 27, 1915 in Berlin, ON (now Kitchener, ON). Predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick G. Hill and sons Patrick and John Hill; brothers and sisters Louis, Josephine, Carlos, Charles, and Joan; also predeceased by her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law - Ernie, Frank, John, Gordon and Marge.
Mom was an incredible woman, who was kind, warm, caring, loving and welcoming. She was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandma and friend to all. She devoted her life to her family. She loved her home with the beautiful gardens that kept her busy, she was a hard worker. Mom was faith-filled and believed in God. When asked about her age, she would say, "We do not know the hour or the day, God has a plan for each of us." May she rest in peace with the Lord. Her listening ear and beautiful smile will always be remembered, along with her strength and wisdom.
We would like to thank all the nurses and doctors who cared for Mom on the 8th floor at Grand River Hospital and to the caring and compassionate nurses and staff at Innisfree House, who took such good care of mom.
Mary's family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519) 749-8467. Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament RC Church, 305 Laurentian Drive, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice, Grand River Hospital Foundation or St. Mary's Hospital Foundation would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
