BRUMBY, Marlene Kristina (Nee: Cavasin)
Passed away peacefully at her home in Innerkip, due to cancer related illnesses, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 64. Beloved wife of Gordon for 18 years. Loving stepmother to Robyn Pearson (Scott) and Shawn Brumby (Rich). GrammaMar to Lincoln, Everleigh and Greyson.
Cherished daughter of Bruna and loving sister and best friend of Wayne (Abbie). Fondly remembered by niece, Cassandra, and nephew, Matthew. Predeceased by father, Charles, and brother, Raymond. Marlene will be missed by many relatives and friends.
Marlene was an outgoing woman who loved time spent with family and friends. She always claimed she was lucky to have 2 families-the Cavasins and the Brumbys. Her sense of humour, warmth, kindness, and generosity made her a joy to be with and both family's always felt they were lucky to her as member. Recently she was shaken by the sudden lose of her brother Ray and her close cousin Marie Bolson but she never lost her positive look at life.
Her closest friends lovingly called her their “Diva” always reflected in her appearance from the tips of her perfectly manicured nails to the bottoms of her favourite gold shoes.
Her entire working life was spent in the travel business including owning her own agency along with her business partner Michele Fabian. It was a profession ideally suited to her love of people.
She had a reputation of being fiercely devoted to her clients many of whom became good friends.
Above all, Marlene always cherishing the time spend with family and friends, be it in person, on the phone, or in the countless emails and text messages exchanged. She had an adventurous spirit, sharing her occupational passion of travel with Gord, enjoying their many trips around and to every corner of the world.
Marlene’s family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff, nurses and caregivers at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre (GRRC) in Kitchener, and in particular her “Earth Angels” Oncologists Dr. Mary Decarolis and Dr. Nadia Califaretti, and Palliative Care Dr. Karen Fryer, and the Caregiver staff of Woodstock for their unyielding care, support and friendship.
A private memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 in the Henry Walser Funeral Home Chapel, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed via livestream at
