Passed away peacefully at St. Mary's General Hospital on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the age of 60. Beloved wife of Joao. Loving mother of Helena and her husband Todd Miller. Proud Grandma of Joel and Leah. Daughter of the late Manuel Melo and Adosinda da Costa. Dear sister of Virgilio, Maria Adelia (predeceased), Aida Maria, Maria de Fatima, Maria da Lurdes, Ana Cristina and Manuel Joaquim da Costa Melo. Survived by brothers-in-law Jose Manuel Salgado, Joao Paulo Silva, Jose Carlos Oliveira and Manuel Bessa Gomes and sister-in-law Guida Melo.
Maria's family will receive relatives and friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Mass at St. Mark R.C. Parish, 55 Driftwood Drive, on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Williamsburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
