The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Maria Castela can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Vo

This beautiful woman is my Grandmother, and she was spectacular. She was funny, kind, an incredible cook, intelligent and a little quirky, but honestly all the best people are. Her outfit of choice was a bata and pantufas, which she pretty much wore on the daily. She loved watching the most ridiculous things on television, which I might add was always accompanied by incredible commentary. No matter what part of the show I walked in on, I was quickly caught up on who the b****es and malandros were in a matter of seconds. We watched hours upon hours of game shows together, and you better believe she got right into them, I can still hear her yelling, NO WHAMMY, NO WHAMMY, BIG BUCKS, BIG BUCKS! We played games together- mainly Trouble, shared meals, told stories, and by told stories I mean I spoke really bad broken Portuguese and she carefully deciphered it, ensuring she didnt miss a detail. As always Vo, meu portugus e uma classe. You were loved more than youll ever know and your legacy will live on through your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although it fills me with unbearable sadness knowing that I cant visit you or hear you call me Neta again. I know youll be watching over us all. In my version of heaven Vo, you are sitting on a comfy couch, eating your Smart Pop and watching your family on the big screen. And trust me, it will be better than any novela, especially with us Castelas, we will make sure there will never be a dull moment. I love you forever and always. Sua Neta Melissa
