Passed away peacefully in her sleep in Kitchener on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late Ion (1975). Loving mother of Nicolae and Tina (Vas Nitu). Proud Grandma of Alex (Stacy) and great grandmother of Livia Harlow and Gwyneth Evangeline. Dear aunt of Michaela (Michael) and Didi (Romania). Maria lived a beautiful life for 65 years in Bucharest, Romania, and then came to Canada in 1983 for another outstanding 36 years. She was a happy, loving person throughout her entire life, from an idyllic life growing up in a picturesque village in the green hills of Romania, to a happy marriage and motherhood in a bustling city, to arriving in Canada late in life, and starting a new chapter in her life.
Maria's family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m., on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Prayers 7 p.m., Wednesday. Prayers will also be offered at the funeral home on Thursday August, 1, 2019 at 10:20 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 544 Bridgeport Rd East, for the funeral service at 11 a.m. Fr.
