Obituary for Manfred Georg Strauss

Manfred Georg Strauss
Strauss, Rev. Manfred
Went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Gudrun for over 44 years. Loving father of Samuel (Anne) and Mike (Leanne). Proud "Opi" of Emma, Amos, Silas, Aaron and Lina. Manfred was the youngest of 11 siblings. He studied at Liebenzell Mission's seminary from 1969-73 and, after 3 years of pastoral ministry in Germany, was sent to St. Paul's Church in Barrhead, Alberta. In 1981 Manfred accepted a call to become the pastor of Martin Luther Evangelical Church in Kitchener where he served for 30 years. During this time he also ministered to community members at nursing and retirement homes. Even in retirement, after 2011, he joyfully shared his life's message of God's redemptive love wherever he could. Special thanks to the loving staff at Grand River Hospital and Innisfree House for their compassionate care.
Gudrun, Sam and Mike will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m on Friday, August 16, 2019 and from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the chapel on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Rev. Dieter Reda. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Reception to follow at Henry Walser Funeral Home. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Liebenzell Mission Canada or Innisfree House would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
