Obituary for Lyvia Krebs (Streich)

KREBS, Lyvia:

Peacefully, at her home, on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the age of 88 years, Lyvia Krebs (nee Streich) was called to her eternal home. In her 64th year of marriage, she is the dearly loved wife of Friedrich Krebs, and preciously treasured mother of Gerald (Sonja), Elvira (Peter) and Ronald (Marlene), and is deeply cherished by twelve grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Sister to two siblings in Germany, Herbert (Ilse) and Elvira. Two siblings and a great-grandson have preceded her into eternity. She tenderly touched the lives of many others and will be dearly missed by a large church family in Canada and abroad.

Lyvia was born on November 12, 1930 in Kranitzka, Ukraine, as the oldest of five children, to her parents Martha and Heinrich Streich. Lyvia’s life knew much hardship, including the adversity of WWII in her childhood years. While in her early youth, the Lord opened her tender heart to the Gospel and she experienced Jesus as her personal Saviour during Revival Meetings in Knesebeck, Germany. As a young woman of 22 years, Lyvia left her family behind in Germany and emigrated to Edmonton, Alberta in 1953. Here she attended the Church of God and met the love of her life, Friedrich Krebs, to whom she was joined in marriage on November 26, 1955. In 1964, with a young family of three children, they entered into full-time Ministry for the Gospel, eventually serving in congregations in Calgary AB, Kitchener ON, and Herford, Germany. Throughout, for over forty years, she was a faithful partner to her husband in pastoral ministry. Her passion was to serve the Lord with all her heart in her personal and family life.

Over the last ten years of her life, Lyvia's health declined progressively. Now, her earthly suffering is over and she is safely resting in the arms of Jesus whom she so deeply loved. She will always be lovingly remembered and never forgotten. We as a family have been immeasurably blessed by the life of a godly wife, mother and grandmother. We appreciate the acts of kindness, prayers and support during the time of her illness and our grief. While our hearts are saddened, we rejoice in the living hope that we have in Jesus.
