Romany, Leslie John:
It is with great sadness that the family of John “Leslie” Romany announce his passing on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the age of 85.
Leslie will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Glenda Romany (Sealy), and his children, Wayne, Liane (Shawn), Brian (Rachel). He was the proud Papa to his seven grandchildren Aaron, Cora, Devan, Brandon, Tristan, Brianna, and Megan. Leslie is survived by his siblings Margaret, Jean, Monica and Kirth. He is predeceased by his parents Tommy and Hilda, and siblings Helen, Verni, Winston and Reginald. Leslie had many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, and Trinidad and Tobago. Leslie was also supportive to his in-laws (Sheryl, Selwyn, Ernest, and Cynthia). He left his family at a youthful age and immigrated to Canada, sponsoring several family members to join him.
Leslie was loved by so many. His positive outlook, generous spirit and kind heart left an impression wherever he went. He never met a stranger that did not quickly become a friend. He always went out of his way to help anyone in need and had an incredible work ethic (Gateman- Milloy) that will forever be remembered. He spent his entire life being a comedian and a mentor to many. His home was a refuge to relatives and international students who were alone for the holidays. Leslie was very sociable and loved music (calypso/steel pan). He was a fantastic cook and loved to prepare dishes such as pelau and roti.
Leslie’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00- 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 14 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
