First time I met Tamara's mom

The first time I met Leslie was the day she arrived to help me fix the software of my newly purchased veterinary clinic. There were so many spelling errors in the breeds list that it was overwhelming and quite frankly embarrassing. Leslie's daughter, Tamara (a registered veterinary technician/nurse on our team), suggested that her mom would be the perfect person to correct those errors. I knew that Leslie had MD but somehow I hadnt realized that a spiral staircase might be a challenge so I offered her what I thought was the best place to work the loft above our reception area which could only be accessed by a tightly wound rickety wrought iron spiral staircase. Did Leslie complain or refuse or ask for another location? Of course not. She sized up her opponent, (probably) gave it the stink eye and a couple of choice words and conquered it fearlessly and decisively one grueling and unsteady step at a time each morning - and again each evening. For 3 days. Without complaint. And without washroom breaks. That is when I realized what a strong, determined, undefeatable lady I had met and I understood the power within her daughter even better. Tamara and I have now worked together for over 11 years having been through innumerable ups and downs - this being the downest down. Our lives have paralleled in more ways than Tamara would likely admit but, although I have lost my sister and 2 nephews, losing a mom is something I do not know what feels like. I hope that Leslies love will carry Tamara and Jim through the rest of their lives. Moms are irreplaceable. Xoxox #with pain comes strength
