Remembering Kurt

Today I awoke to the news that my best friends father had passed away. Kurt Peters had lived a long life of 91 years and I had known him since I was six years old. He had a thick German accent which made me listen closely to understand what he said and while still a kid I was always a little afraid of him. I always had the feeling that us kids were in his way but every once in a while he would say or do something to let me know he enjoyed us being around. I remember once accidentally hitting his son with a baseball bat which gave him a black eye. I was a kid myself and was afraid of what Kurt would say, When I saw Kurt a couple days later he gruffly said look what you did, why did you hit my boy. But he quickly forgave me and it was forgotten but I always remembered the way he said my boy. Looking back I think he may have been saying in those two words I love this boy so dont hurt him again. Which may have been as close as he would get to saying how he felt about his son. In my eyes Kurt was a hard working, good man and he will be missed by many and my condolences go out to Rudy, Dave, Glenn, Sandy and their families. RIP Kurt
