Obituary for Kenneth Paul MacFarlane

MacFarlane, Kenneth Paul
After a courageous battle with his illness, the angels came to take Ken home to meet his Lord. He passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at home. Ken was 79 years old. Beloved husband of Adrienne for 42 years, he will be deeply missed. Loved father of Lisa and grandchildren Cody and Brandon. Predeceased by his parents as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Ken will be lovingly remembered by siblings, in-laws, many nieces and nephews as well as many very good friends and neighbours. Ken touched many lives and all will miss his kindness, generosity, sense of humour and his stories.
Ken retired from the Waterloo Regional School Board as one of the HVAC stationary engineers looking after many of the elementary and high schools. He loved fishing, camping, travelling, socializing with friends and family and always looked forward to the MacFarlane annual picnic.
Special thanks for the compassionate care provided by the personal support workers, nurses, Dr. Donna Ward and Dr. Clare Harlick of the Palliative Care Unit of the LHIN. Special thanks also to Rev. Jennifer Urquhart of Emmanuel United Church for the comfort and support she provided Ken in preparing for his journey home. A very special thank you to all of our family and friends who visited when it was possible, phoned, brought food, shopped for us, and always let us know how much they cared.
Private cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no funeral service. Ken asked that everyone stay home and keep safe. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date when it is safe to do so.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Salvation Army or the Food Bank of Waterloo Region would be appreciated by the family. (cards available at the funeral home)
