Born in Kernei, Yugoslavia and immigrated to Canada in 1953. Beloved wife of the late John (2015) for 58 years. Loving mother of John Petsch (Wendy) and Mary Meaney (Erich). Cherished "Omi" of Katie (Phil), Chris (Katie), Jonathan (Asma), Carolyn (Jeff) and Erica (Mac) and "Great Omi" to Jackson, Max, Cecelia and soon to arrive, Lincoln. Fondly remembered by Devin (Michelle) and Taya, sister-in-law, Katharine Bortscher and Susan Elter, and many nieces and nephews. Katharine was a longtime member of St. Mary's German Congregation and the Schwaben Club. She was also an amazing cook and avid baker who made both seem effortless. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Special thanks to the staff at Lanark Heights, especially the nurses and PSW's on Maple, for the love and care they provided to our mother. We are truly grateful for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice during this terrible pandemic.

Katharine's visitation will be held privately at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 and a private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 56 Duke St. W, on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Toby Collins, celebrant. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary's RC Church or the Food Bank of Waterloo Region would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
