Obituary for Karli Jo Chomick

Karli Jo Chomick
Chomick, Karli Jo
March 26, 1992 - May 24, 2020

With broken hearts we announce the sudden and tragic loss of our beautiful Karli due to a motor vehicle accident in the early hours of May 24, 2020 at the age of 28. She was such a bright light in our family circle who found her greatest joy in her two adored children, Savanna, 8, and Ryder, 4. She blessed our family in so many ways with her loving heart, kind soul, crazy sense of humour, and fierce family devotion. Even through the struggles of being a single mom and having very little materially, she gave her children more love and joy than their hearts could hold in two lifetimes.

Karli was a true example to everyone whose life she touched. She found the bright side in everything. She could find humour and make us laugh in the most difficult situations to lift our spirits and help us remember to not take life too seriously sometimes. She was devoted to her friends and family; they were the most important things in her life. She taught these same values to Savanna and Ryder. One of Savanna’s teachers wrote that everyday as Karli would kiss them and send them into school, she would tell them “Be kind today”.

Anyone who knew Karli could tell you that she has always been special. They'd tell you that she'd be the first to offer you support and comfort, or the shirt off her back if you needed it more than she did. She was always ready to lend a listening ear, helping hand, or shoulder to lean on, and never hesitated. She remembered every single important date, even the ones we forgot about ourselves, and never failed to reach out on those days. She was the kind of person to call you or check in, just because she was thinking about you. Even on her worst days she was ready and willing to put others before herself, because that was just her genuine nature. She never failed to give everything she had to her kids despite the clouds in her skies. We are all better people just by having known and loved her.

We have all been left impacted in ways difficult to put into words. She left her mark on everyone she met with her gentle nature, open, kind heart, and free spirit. This has become even more evident to us in the days since her passing as people continue to reach out, reconnect and come together in their disbelief and sadness for losing such a beautiful soul too soon.

Karli was born in Windsor, Ontario and spent her childhood growing up there. In Grade 6, she moved with her mom, Dani, and dad, Bob to Kitchener and finished out her school years at W. T. Townshend, Laurentian Public School, Huron Heights SS in Kitchener, before graduating from Monsignor Doyle Catholic SS in Cambridge.

Karli leaves behind her two precious children Savanna and Ryder, her loving parents, Dani Hughes and Bob Hughes (Gabe). She will also be deeply missed by her Nana, Grace Johns (Wayne Penney), her adoring aunts Lori Chomick, Juli Kreutner (George), Theresa Williams of Windsor, ON and Stephanie Williams of Florida (Jason). Karli’s cousins Jade Birkner (Cody Plaseski) and Karli's cherished nephew Carter Plaseski and Jenna Birkner (Kevin Gordon), will miss her presence in their lives profoundly. They were her “sisters” and best friends, and in Jenna’s case, roommate and second “mom” to Savy and Ryder. Karli’s two step brothers, Dan Tinnerello(Amanda) and Adam Tinnerello (Brendan) will miss her dearly. Also deeply mourning Karli’s loss are the loving grandparents of her children, Peggy and Tony Byrne of Cambridge, as well as her “second family”, Jody and Troy Krug and their boys Justin, Jordan, and Jamie of Windsor, ON.

Karli will be remembered and celebrated by countless other friends and loved ones whose life she touched in some way.

We have no words to express the depth of gratitude we have to our family, friends, and the entire community who have come together in love and support to donate beyond generously in Karli’s memory to the Go Fund Me campaign established for her children. https://www.gofundme.com/f/for-karli039s-kids
