Obituary for Karen Elizabeth Stainton

Stainton, Karen:

Passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 70.

Beloved wife to Bruce Payne of 34 years. Cherished mother to Megan (Chad) & Alexa (Rob). Loving Nana to Elowen and Calvin.

Sister of Michael, the late Daniel, and Timothy.

Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and dear friends.


Karen was a vibrant and loving woman. She valued nothing more than her family and friends, and could always be counted on for a chat, hug or a helping hand. She was deeply connected to her community through her volunteer work, singing in choirs, and many years of teaching. Karen spent many years teaching special education in the region and touched the lives of many students. Her love of adventure and travel was shared with her husband, and they have enjoyed many wonderful trips together in the last 35 years.


Karen's family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A private funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel. Guests are required to RSVP through the funeral home's website to attend the visitation for Karen.
