Obituary for Judith Marysia Johnson (Zakrzewski)

Judith Marysia Johnson (Zakrzewski)
Johnson, Judy
1948 - 2014

It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of our dear and treasured Judy, an extraordinary wife, mother, nana and friend who gave freely of her love and compassion to all during her life and even through her brave struggle with cancer. Judy is survived by, and will be greatly missed by her husband Dave, daughter Amy (Duncan), and grandchildren Madeleine, Ben, Gavin and Malcolm. She is predeceased by her mother Molly and father Joe who set wonderful examples of honesty and hard work as the truths in life.

Judy was a respected special education teacher and loved to help those with whom she worked to achieve goals beyond their expectations.

She was born in Sheffield, England and was a proud member of the first graduating kinesiology class at U of W. A health and fitness fanatic, Judy could most often be found, in her spare time at the gym, playing golf, riding her bike, or teaching Pilates to groups who fast became her friends. Her most passionate obsession, however, was being a role model for her daughter Amy and granddaughter Madeleine who have both grown into incredible people, fulfilling every wish and dream that Judy had for them.

Judy's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519-749-8467) on Wednesday from 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass for Judy will be held at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E. Waterloo on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10am. Fr. Phil Reilly officiating. Family tributes and reception will follow in the church hall immediately following the Mass.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

We wish to thank the staff of the Grand River Cancer Centre and the CCAC for showing such compassion.
