Obituary for Joseph Thomas Egan

Egan, Joseph Thomas:

Passed away on November 4, 2023 at Grand River Hospital with his family by his side, at the age of 72.

Beloved husband of Susan for 49 years.

Loving father of Tracy (Greg), Amy (Chris), Julie (Pablo), and Kathryn (Bryan). Devoted Grandfather to Benito, Jasper, and Matilda.

Survived by his siblings Pat (Gloria), Tim, & Louise (Peter), Brother-in-law Art, and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents (Raymond and Vi) and sister Lucille.

Joseph worked in the tire business for 34 years with BF Goodrich, Uniroyal Goodrich, Treadway Exports, and Hercules Tire where he was able to travel all over the world.

He spent a lot of his time volunteering throughout his life: he was a coach and executive for many years with WMGSA, at Gray Silo Golf Course, and selling 50/50 tickets at Kitchener Rangers games.

Joe loved to spend time outdoors, especially fishing up in Haliburton Forest and golfing. He loved animals and music. Avid fan and collector of the Toronto Blue Jays. When not outdoors Joe could always be found either reading or solving a crossroad puzzle/sudoku.

The family is extremely grateful for all of the amazing and compassionate medical care provided by various healthcare professionals in Kitchener-Waterloo and London.

Joseph's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will be held at Henry Walser Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 3:30 p.m.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).

His memory will live on through the lives he touched and he will be missed by many.
