Obituary for John Schreiter
John Schreiter, 78, of Kitchener, ON passed away on October 29, 2022 at his home.
John was born on June 20, 1944, and twenty years to the day, he married the love of his life, Mercedes Theresa Schreiter (Nee: Malone). John will be dearly missed by his son Stephen (Jennifer) and their children Randy and Jessica (Teo). He was an adoring great-grandfather to Lilia, Mathias, Zoe Jane and Theo. He also leaves behind his son, Ken (Toby) and their children, Jordan and Justin.
John was a lover of tall tales, a joker, and a man content with life. He was known to keep to himself, enjoying his quiet life with his beloved wife. Fishing and spending time outdoors provided much comfort and pleasure. John and his wife, Mercedes were dedicated watchers of Coronation Street and would never miss an opportunity to view a Leafs game. He was proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. John was a hard worker, dedicating himself to every job he took. His time policing gave him many opportunities to serve his community. In his early years, John was a police officer with Bridgeport and Elmira Police. He will be remembered for his heroism, his steadfastness and love.
John's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:30 - 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 with a funeral to follow at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel at Henry Walser Funeral Home (507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467).
