Barrick, John Stanley

Passed away peacefully at Hilltop Manor in Cambridge on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Marie (1999). Loving father of Wendy Veenkamp (Ted), George Barrick (Linda) and Ed Barrick. Proud grandfather of Serena (Jason), Ryan (Sarah), Jade, Christopher and Johnathan and great-grandfather of Adrian, Adam, Johanna and Emma. Dear brother of Jimmy and Eddie (Mary).

John was a gifted, skilled and meticulous tradesman. Born during the great depression, John made the most of the materials at hand. A true handyman, a gift he passed to his children. Many autos, appliances, and furnishings, well past their expected best before date, would be resurrected to breathe a new life. John’s youthful passion for building and flying model airplanes inspired him to earn his private pilot’s license. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Hilltop Manor LTC for their dedication, compassion and loving support through John’s long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.


A private family graveside service will be held. Private cremation arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
