Obituary for Jim Gerger

Gerger, Jim;

Jim Gerger of Waterloo, Ontario passed away peacefully at home, in the arms of his wife, on January 26, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer, kidney disease and multiple strokes. He was 67.

Jim is survived by his loving and loved wife, Sharon and their sons who brought him such joy and of whom he was so proud and their wives, whom he adored, Shawn and his wife, Erin and Kevin and his wife, Ashley.

He will be missed by his brothers, Al and John (Cathy) and his sister Susan Mayman (Ron) and brothers-in-law Bob Taylor and Keith Woods and sister-in-law Kim Tabor (Bob) and father-in-law, Chick Woods and his many nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Rosa Gerger, his sister, Heidi Taylor and his sisters-in-law, Mary Gerger and Desiree Breland and his mother-in-law, Della Woods.

Jim will be missed by his many friends, some of more than sixty years, from grade school days and years of playing baseball, golf, darts and horseshoes as well as his decades of hunting and fishing trips.

Jim was one of those guys that everybody liked. He was a sweet and kind man and he never had a bad word to say about anyone. He had a wonderful sense of humour, a contagious laugh and secretly loved being the star of many of his wife's stories.

He will be very missed by his cats, particularly Walter, who loved Jim's lap and gentle touch.

Jim's family would like to thank his many doctors, nurses and PSWs for their support over the years. Far too many to mention without possibly missing someone so we will refrain from naming all of you. Just know we are very grateful to have had you in our lives.

Per Jim's wishes, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Jim's Life will take place on February 4, 2024 from 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 655 Wabanaki Dr., Kitchener, ON. Casual dress.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada in Jim's memory (cards available at the funeral home).
