Jeff passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the age of 70.
Beloved son of Barry (Marian) and the late Wanda. Loving father of Matt Abelson (Amy Wasylenki) and Ashley Keachie (Chris). Proud and devoted grandfather of Sophia and Hailey. He will also be sadly missed by Joanne Abelson.
Dear brother of Laurie (Bruce Shantz) and Steve Abelson. Brother-in-law of Kathryn (late Cliff), Gary (Rose) and Sandy (Mike). Predeceased by his brother-in-law Phil. He will also be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends.
Jeff worked as a salesman for many years in the Window and Siding industry. As a passionate hockey fan, he dedicated much of his time to coaching. In addition, he was a Convener for the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association for ten years. At one time he was a member of the Numismatic Society as he loved studying coins. He also had a love for nature and knew the name of every bird. His favourite place was at the family cottage, Bwana House on Crystal Lake where he spent countless hours fishing, playing games with family, sitting in the gazebo playing Solitaire while listening to the ball game and entertaining friends. But his greatest love was getting together with family! He had a great sense of humour and he always kept us laughing! We know he will be missed by many.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home (519) 749-8467. We welcome family and friends to join us for a Celebration of Jeff's Life on Saturday June 22, 2024 from 1-4pm at Edelweiss Tavern in the large banquet Hall. 600 Doon Village Road, Kitchener.
In recognition of his mother Wanda's battle with multiple sclerosis, donations to the MS Society of Canada would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
