Obituary for Jean Tuffin

Jean Tuffin
A life well lived
1924-2022

Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Tuffin on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the age of 98. Predeceased by her loving husband George Tuffin, January 11th, 2003 and her son Paul Tuffin, October 1st, 2010 (Christina). She was comforted by the love of her family and by her faith that she would be reunited with her beloved husband George of 56 years. Her long and blessed life is celebrated by her daughter Wendy Westman (Ron), loving grandchildren Deanna (Joe), Ashley (Peter), Josh (Robin), Autumn (Ian) and Kelsey (Megan), and by her great-grandchildren Colton, Brinley, Jackson, Jameson, and Bishop.

Jean had five sisters and two brothers. She is survived by siblings Bonnie Henry (Tom) and Harry Berlet (Betty). Jean and George were married on June 29th, 1946 by Reverend Roy Knoll officiating at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The Lord blessed this union with two wonderful children, Wendy and Paul.

Gram, or Grandma ‘T’, as she was often referred to by her great-grandchildren, was always a strong and independent person. It was only recently she changed her living quarters to University Gates, accepting some assistance in her new home. She was an absolutely terrific bridge player according to her friends at 404 Wing. Her memory was impeccable, which it needed to be in these tournaments. In her younger years she was also an avid curler at the Granite Club and considered herself a formidable opponent on the golf course in Galt. Jean took great pride and pleasure in arranging flowers for all occasions and was proud of her position as president of the local Garden Club, organizing bus trips to Niagara for blossom time. She loved her family, and was always so grateful for the visits, meals and happy memories she could cherish. We thank the care that she received from staff at University Gates and bless her longtime table friends. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff of St Mary's Hospital and the Hospice of Waterloo Region. A private family service and burial will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy and Memorial donations may be made in Jean's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and may be arranged through the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467.

Psalm 25 4&5
Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior and my hope is in you all day long.
