Obituary for James Robert Gummow

Gummow, James Robert
Born July 27, 1949 – Passed away on February 6, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Jim was a very kind and gentle soul. He was good to his fellow man. He had a spirituality about him, and the bond we shared transcended anything earthly- we were soulmates and life without him will be forever dimmed.
If not for you, winter would have no spring, couldn’t hear the Robin sing, I’d be sad and blue if not for you.
Jim dabbled in poetry and was a truly gifted artist. Throughout his career he worked briefly out West in Gastown. Later he worked mostly for Kenmar, where he started out with Paul Martin and Paul Kendricks when the company was first formed. A true talent, he was chosen for the most intricate and challenging jobs because of the mastery of his craft and the level of his skill. He also worked for Fulton Glass for a time. He will remain in our hearts forever.
Dearest love and partner of Sally Hartman. Much loved brother of Christine. Predeceased by parents Lawrance Reginald (1999) and Dorothy Louise (2001); brothers Wayne (1983), Alan (1987) and Keith (2015); and sister Sharon (2003). Also predeceased by brother-in-law Tim (2020).
“All goes onward and outward, nothing collapses, and to die is different from what anyone supposed, and luckier.”
Cremation has taken place. A private family service to take place at Riverside Cemetery in New Hamburg in the spring, followed by a celebration of life.
