Obituary for James Doering

Doering, James

James Doering was born February 7, 1941 and worked on the farm until he was married. He was married to Marlene Kelterborn, his wife of 43 years, and together they raised a family of 5 children. He is the much loved father to Craig Doering (Debbie), Kim Reston (Chris), Todd Doering (the late Kelly), Barry Doering (Lisa) and Teri Mayer (Jamie). He was the proud grandfather to; Benjamin, Joshua, Jenny, Michael, Jack, Matthew, Sam and Megan. Loving brother to June Schmidt (the late Ken), Lila Ramseyer (the late Robert), David Doering (the late Ruby), the late Jane Mohr (Orville) the late Ruth Little. Remembered by brother-in-law Stuart Little. James loved sports, with hockey being his favorite. He always dreamed of being a firefighter and was fortunate to achieve this dream and served the City of Waterloo for 30 years. James always had a kind smile, a love for life and a positive energy that naturally attracted others to him. Even in his final years, at the Doon Village Retirement Centre, he continued to inspire friendships and build a strong sense of community by starting sing songs and arranging events with the staff and residents. He will be missed and remembered fondly by his family and friends.
