Lacatus, Ionel:
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 24, 2023 at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, ON at the age of 58.
Ionel is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Elena Lacatus. He will be missed dearly by his beloved daughter Ramona (Sorin) Sirbu and the delight of his life, his grandson, Ayan. He leaves behind his siblings Mihaela (Alexandru), Nicu (Simona), Gigi (Elena) and their families. He will be missed by his relatives and friends here in Canada and at home in Romania.
Ionel was a dedicated and accomplished glass blower. He embraced his family with open arms; he was a loving, committed husband, father and proud grandfather. In his leisure he loved to fish and spend time with friends and family.
Ionel's family will receive relatives and friends from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Ionel's funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 27, 2023 at St. John The Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church, 2150 Bleams Rd., Kitchener with interment at Williamsburg Cemetery to follow.
Ionel's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Grand River and Juravinski hospitals for their tender care through these difficult times.
