I would like to share what has brought me comfort. In one of our recent conversations, Howard in looking back at his life, declared that he had had a "good life". Howard was a good man.He was a good friend- for some 64 years.

I met Howard at Franklin Public School in 1991. His sense of humor and dedication to his students are two things that stand out in my mind as I recall those times. I was a first year teacher, and he was the seasoned veteran. I appreciated the time he spent showing me the "ropes". I only worked with him for one year at Franklin but I really benefited from getting to know him as he was an excellent teacher and coach.

Mr. Hennig was my teacher in grade 6 at Smithson School. He was energetic and pretty cool. I think we were a challenging class and he was a good sport about it all. An original. My condolences go out to his family.

While I, unfortunately, had not met Howard or Esther - the congregation of St. James'~Rosemount United will be keeping your whole family in prayers during this difficult time. Esther and Howard's presence and ministry within the church was deeply appreciated, and so please know if there's anything we can do to help, we'd be honoured to be asked. Prayers and peace to you all. Rev. Chris Fickling
