Guderian, Herta:
Herta Guderian passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family early in the morning on July 6, 2023 at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of the late Sigmund for over 62 years. Loving mother of John (Rosemarie) and Richard. Proud Oma of Amanda (Tyler), Mark, Victoria (Sam) and Erika.
She is predeceased by her sister Else and her brothers: Ewald, Waldmar and Adolf. She is survived by her sister Irma. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.
Herta was born in the small ethnic German village of Bogdanka, Poland on July 20, 1934, the fourth of six children. Her childhood was marked by war and trauma. Their father was killed on the battlefield and the family had to flee their home.
In 1951, they immigrated to Canada where Herta eventually joined the Christian Endeavor youth group. There she met the love of her life, Sigmund, and in 1958 they were married. They had two sons and four grandchildren.
Herta took great pride in her immaculate home and garden. She and Sigmund travelled extensively and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an exceedingly generous person who contributed regularly to a host of charities. She will be remembered for her bright smile, gentle manner and loving-kindness.
Herta's family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30am-10:30am on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel to follow at 10:30am. Reception to follow. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
