Helga Gersdorf (nee Grammatke)
December 23, 1931 – July 8, 2022
Passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2022 at the age of 90.
Beloved wife of the late Gerhard Gersdorf (2015). Loving mother of the late Frank Gersdorf (2022). Cherished Omi of Jordan and Logan Gersdorf. Helga will be greatly missed by siblings Hans Grammatke (Jodi) Kitchener ON, Siegfried Grammatke (Brigitte), predeceased by Eberhard Grammatke (Helga Kaiser), Wolfgang Grammatke ( late Maryanne) and late Inge Monnich (late Gerard), Germany. Helga will be fondly remembered by many extended family members in Canada and Germany, and also missed by friend Tarra Gersdorf.
Helga was a secretary in Germany before emigrating to Canada, then an employee of Colonial Cookies, Valhalla Inn, Dare Cookies and former Copper Craft Kitchener.
Helga was a family oriented person, who enjoyed cooking, and caring for her family. She also was a welcoming host to anyone into her home. She enjoyed her home, loved bird watching and working in her garden. Her favorite TV programs were Family Feud, The Price is Right, and was a sports enthusiast for her favorites wrestling, golf, soccer and tennis. She was very in tune with world events through CNN and the Kitchener News. She will always be remembered as being a happy person, with a smile on her face, and liking a good laugh.
Visitation for family and close friends will take place at Henry Walser Funeral Home, Monday July 11, 2022 from 6pm-8pm. Private service will be held as per her wishes at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener, ON.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice.
