Obituary for Harold William Despond

Despond, Harold William:

Harold William Despond, formerly of Cambridge and Kitchener, passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospice in Windsor on January 11 at age 93, following a brief illness. He is reunited with his wife Mary Smith Despond, who died in 2012 after a 62-year marriage.

He is survived by daughters Linda Shea of Murray Harbour, PEI, Sandra Couch of Cambridge, and Michelle Nesbitt of LaSalle, where he spent his final years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Eleanor (McWhirter) Despond, his grandson Jay Steckly, sister Eileen Ball and brothers Norman and Jim Despond and son-in-law Brian Shea. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn Croth of Goderich, grandchildren Jeff Steckly (Anna), Brian Shea (Crystal), Marianne Couch Dwyer (Brady), Mark Couch (Rebekah), Christopher Fitzpatrick (Melissa) and Steven Nesbitt.
He is also survived by great grandchildren Nisa and Thomas Steckly, Abbey and Taylor Steckly, Gregory and Jonathan Shea, Gabriel and Nolan Dwyer, Kayla Smith, Owen and Leah Couch, Liam and Myles Fitzpatrick, and great-great-granddaughter Violet Steckly.

Due to Covid, there will be a private family funeral service, with interment to take place in Park Lawn Cemetery in Cambridge next to his beloved Mary. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
