Obituary for Peter Steffens

Peter Steffens
Steffens, Peter
Passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Sunnyside Home, at the age of 82.
Beloved husband of the late Liz (nee Holzaepfel) Steffens for 59 years. Loving father of Peter Steffens (Janet), Greg Steffens (Tracey), Carolyn McIlwraith (Paul). Cherished grandfather of Jacqueline, Ashlee; Jeffrey, Nicole and Daniel (Michelle); Leah (Brad), Scott (Colleen), Tess (Luke) and D.J. and great-grandfather of Beau.
Dear brother of Vera Kugener (Henry) and Evi Dragogias.
Predeceased by his parents Peter and Lucy Steffens and sister Christa Marnow.

Peter was a loyal and valued member of the Spaenaur team for 38 years working his way up from being a backroom worker to General Manager. Peter was a founding member of Grandview Baptist Church and actively served in a weekly program at the church called Boys Brigade. He also served on the board of deacons there. In the summertime, he and Liz weekly attended Sauble Community Church in Sauble Beach. A great outdoorsman, Peter had a passion for fishing, which instilled in his children a love for the outdoors. His generosity showed itself in many ways, not only financially but by providing summer after summer of extended family fun at Wildwood Resort with children and grandchildren contributing to the closeness we now experience.

Peter's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will be held, following the visitation, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Private interment at Woodland Cemetery.

Special thank you to the staff of Shantz Hill at Sunnyside Home for their wonderful care and support.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to Feed, Love, Change International would be appreciated - https://feedlovechange.ca.
