Dietrich, Hal

After a valiant fight, Hal lost his battle from a brain tumor at the age of 66 on Monday, June 19, 2023 surrounded by his family and the love of his life, wife Carol (Kuntz) of nearly 35 years.

He will be deeply missed by his siblings Wayne and Kathy Dietrich, Kathy Poll, Alan and Bonnie Dietrich, Arlene and Dan Glofcheskie, Marianne Dietrich, and Mike Dietrich and Elaine Bouttell. He will also be missed by his in-laws Harvey and Dianne Kuntz, Linus Kuntz, Dorothy Kuntz, Bert and Pat Kuntz, Joe Kuntz, Ruth and Ron Gordon, Helen and Don Meyer, and Jim and Marlene Kuntz.

He loved spending time with his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and their families, Uncle Ron and Aunt Marilyn Merkle, Dietrich families and many cousins.

Predeceased by his parents Edward and Shirley Dietrich, in-laws Jerome and Vera Kuntz, Randy Poll, Lloyd Kuntz, Elaine Kuntz, Angela Kuntz and nephew Rob Bryson.

He was an active curler at Listowel Curling Club and KW Granite (insurance league). He travelled many miles on his bicycle in and around the cottage at Point Clark, home in Millbank, cycling trips to Eastern Ontario, Ohio, New York State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana to name a few. He was a strong supporter of the Miami Dolphins, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Islanders.

Hal was a proud employee of JM Schneider's/Maple Leaf Foods for 35 years, retiring in October 2013.

He made lifelong friends wherever he went, whether it was growing up in St. Agatha, working at JMS, living in Millbank, at the cottage in Point Clark, on cycling trips, or at the apartment in Kitchener.

We are forever grateful to the health care teams at London Health Science Centre, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, nurses and PSW's at Paramed, palliative care Dr. Lana Tan, family doctors Dr. Brian Finn and Dr. Matthew Goodmurphy for their care and support during the last 9 ½ years. Thank you to the staff and volunteers at the Innisfree Hospice who helped us through the last days of Hal's journey.
