Obituary for Gordon James Willms

Gordon James Willms

Surrounded by the love of family, Gordon James Willms passed away peacefully on Monday January 11th, 2021 at the age of 69, after sharing a treasured Christmas at home with his family. Cherished husband of Sylvia, loving and proud father to Eric and Melissa and her husband Alex Bingeman, adoring Papa to Hudson and Edison Bingeman. Beloved brother and friend to Edward and Barb Willms, Dennis and Rita Willms, Ingrid and Paul Fehderau as well as Sylvia’s family Ed and Anita Gerstenkorn, and Tibor and the late Rene Schmidt. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents Walter and Elfrieda Willms.

Gord was the proud builder of homes in Waterloo Region for over 35 years, a craft he learned from his father. He was a private family man that loved the outdoors, gardening, travelling and keeping busy. Over the past 4 years, Gord saw his dream of a “cottage” come to fruition in Roseville. This getaway captured all that made Gord happy; he could garden, ride the tractor, sit in quiet reflection while enjoying a great view, play his music loudly, visit with family and friends, watch his grandsons run through the field, and always have a project on the go.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lois McLaughlin, Dr. Bonnie McCarron, and Janette Polach for many years of incredible care, and the doctors and nursing team of Grand River Hospital 6 south oncology for their amazing care in the last week of Gord’s life.

We ask that everyone be safe and stay home in this uncertain period. Please commemorate Gord’s life in a private, personal way at this time. We will celebrate his life together when it is safe to do so.

In memory of Gord, donations can be made to The Working Center or Salama SHIELD Foundation through Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467.
