Gordon "Gord" Dennis Hobb July 16, 1946

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Innisfree House at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Joan Wagner. Loving father of David Hobb (Gemma), Vicki DeLeye (Greg) and Matthew Zettel (Nicole). Proud Grandpa of Elsie, Alistair, Spencer, Emma, Owen, Nathan and Lillian. Dear brother of Norman "Norm" Hobb (Hannele). Warmly regarded by Joan's family - Frances Kraemer (Richard), Len Wagner (Maria) and Dianne Moser (Wayne), and their families. Predeceased by his first wife Yvonne Turner.

Currently co-owner with Joan of Dental Placement Services. After secondary school, he began his career in office furniture manufacturing at Steelcase Canada. Through night school he earned an Engineering Degree from Ryerson.

He continued his career in the furniture industry, including tenures at Harter and Faultless Doerner; until he fulfilled his dream of owning his own company, north of England, forming Northeastern Components (NE) in 1986. He achieved several patents for office chair mechanisms. Gord, finally achieved success when he sold NE to a fortune 500 company in 2000. The family then returned to Canada. Gord, then held a number of leadership and consulting positions in Ontario as well as Alberta, including a period as President of Weber Plastics in Waterloo.

Accomplished Saxophone and Clarinet player; Band Leader of “Satin Seven” in the sixties.

He was a passionate Classic Car enthusiast. Gord rebuilt a 1959 Borgward Coupe several times, the latest through 2019. The car was originally purchased by his mother, Elsie, in 1961. He made several trips with family to Car shows and Borgward meets all across Europe. He also rebuilt a Jaguar XK140 from the ground up for a friend.

Gord was an avid animal lover, he cared for several dogs and the occasional cat.

Gord will be deeply missed.

Gord's family will receive relatives and friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 and from 12:30-1:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial service in the chapel on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Innisfree House or Hospice of Waterloo Region - Capital Campaign would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
