Obituary for Gilbert Michael Heintzman

Heintzman, Gilbert Michael:

Passed away (Covid-19 contributed) on Thursday December 24, 2020 at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener in his 99th year.

Gilbert (Gibby) was always a bachelor, who enjoyed his family members. He was a Veteran of WWII and worked for Krug Furniture for 46 years as an upholster and refinisher, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed his time at a shared cottage with his friends. He loved fishing and mentioned many times of fishing with his father. He enjoyed many bus trips including going to Vegas and Nashville. Every week you could meet him early at the Kitchener Market.

We can see him now playing cards with Ivan, Joe and Wib.

Predeceased by his parents John and Edith (Weiler) Heintzman, brother Jerome, sisters Ruby (Ivan) Habermehl, Dorothy (Joe) Calcutta and Verna (Wib) Karges.

Survived by his brothers Richard Heintzman, Gord (Lorna) Heintzman of Kitchener, his sister Dolly Ware of Chatham and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Private cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date when it's safer for family to attend.

The family would like to thank Winston Park - a wonderful home for the last 3 years. Special thanks to Pauline and Carmen for their help and care, also to Grand River Hospital's doctors and nurses for their compassion and care for Gilbert.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation or the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
