Life Story for George Zirdung
George Zirdung, 71, died of cardiac arrest outside his home in Kitchener, Ontario on January 26, 2021. Born in Medvedička, Croatia on April 17, 1949, George moved to Germany in 1970, just before establishing his life in Kitchener, Ontario in 1973. He is remembered and missed by sons Fred and Rick Zirdung, his daughter-in-law Sarah SoRelle, and his siblings Ankica Muretić, Branka Bründl, and Josip Zirdum. He will also be lovingly remembered by his church community at Kristova Pentekostna Crkva in Waterloo, Ontario. A man who tried to live by faith and action, George loved to serve God and was deeply involved with volunteering at his church. In addition to his role as Treasurer, he enjoyed providing transportation for those needing assistance getting to services, and was always willing to lend a hand.
George also loved to travel with his sons, and enjoyed many good times with each and both of them. He particularly was fond of cars and over the years shared his love of autos with his boys, attending annual car shows. He was an innovation enthusiast which extended beyond the latest in vehicles and into all areas of emerging technology, another passion he shares with his children.
George’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. A private graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery. Pastor Miroljub Ilic to officiate.
