Passed away on September 5, 2022 at Nithview Long Term Care Home at the age of 79.
Beloved Dad of Daena (Kevin) and Jeremy (Melanie).
Cherished Grandpa of Mitchell (Richard), Janna, Connor (Victoria), Owen (Jen), EJ, Tim and Ray.
He is survived by his brother Don (Vivi) Mervyn.
He is also missed by many friends especially those at Bobby O'Brien's.
George was born in Kirkland Lake in 1943 to Gordon and Lillian Mervyn. He started his degree at the University of Waterloo and left to be trained by IBM directly, becoming one of the earliest computer programmers in the region. He shared his beautiful tenor voice at the Church of the Holy Saviour and also after choir practice at local pubs throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s. George is a lover of all animals and shared his home with many dogs and cats over the years.
George's family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m.. Reception to follow.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the KW Humane Society and the Alzheimer's Society of Waterloo-Wellington would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
