Schott, Gary Clifford

Gary Clifford Schott born August 14, 1953 passed away December 26, 2019 at 2:55 a.m. in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family.
Gary leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 47 years Linda Schott, their 5 children; Rob McTaggart (Jackie), Lori Schott (Mike), Sarah Schott, Aimee Schott (Melissa) and Tim Schott (Megan), their 17 grandchildren; Robbie (Jessica), Taylor (Joe), Olivia (Jasper), Darius, Ainslee, Brenner, Mackaylin, Blaze, Jesse, Deacon, Hazel, Oliver, Annie, MJ, Penny, Ireland and Maisee and their two great-grandchildren; Trenton and Addison. Gary was also survived by his loving mother Carol Schott, sister Judy Pearce (John), brother Brad Schott (Karen) and many other friends and family members who will miss him dearly. Gary has been reunited in heaven with his dear daughter Stephanie Schott, his father Clifford Schott and mother-in-law Hazel Wigood.
Gary was born and raised in Kitchener and became very well respected in many areas of our community. Gary was considered a legend in the towing community. He was the successful owner and operator of Active Towing for 45 years.
At the young age of 14 years old, Gary found his one and only true love. He took much pride in his family and the beautiful life he and his wife built together. They resided on their farm in Winterbourne, Ontario. Gary referred to his farm as “his little piece of heaven”. He was well known for his passion for farming and love of animals. Most of the time, he could be found down in his barn with his horses or out on his tractor in the field.
Gary’s other great passion was boxing. His family believes it was no coincidence that his journey ended on Boxing Day. He was a fighter, both in the ring (Boxing by Syd) and in his battle with brain cancer. Gary navigated through brain surgery, radiation and chemo and left everyone amazed at how he tackled each challenge with strength and grace. He was our very own superman, notably when it came to this particular battle in his life. Gary fought a full twelve rounds, till the final bell rang.
Gary may have been a man of very few words but sure made a big impact in this world. He will be terribly missed but his memories will live on through many.
The family would like to express their immense gratitude to Dr. Alejandro Torres of Juravinski Cancer Center for his compassionate care and comfort throughout this journey.
Gary’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener ON 519-749-8467. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Koinonia Christian Fellowship, 850 Sawmill Rd., Bloomingdale, ON.
Gary had a great belief in the incredible work of his father-in-law through World Accord. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to go to World Accord, towards school construction builds in Honduras.
