Karai, Frank (Francis) John:
Passed at home suddenly on February 22, 2023.
Survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Karai (Davis), daughter Rebecca and son Brandon. Loving brother to Steve and Theresa. Predeceased by his father, Steven Karai and mother, Margaret Karai.
A serious sports enthusiast, Frank played many sports in high school and was an All-Star athlete and Athlete of the Year. His favorite sports to watch were basketball and football, followed by baseball, golf, UFC and poker. Frank was a lifelong Raptors fan and loved sharing the excitement of watching sports with his children and close friends. In his later years, he became very focused on health and fitness.
He was an incredibly hard and loyal worker both at home and at work. A dedicated employee at Ontario Die Company for over 45 years, he began his career sweeping floors at the age of 13. As an older teen and university student, he worked on the factory floor with his father. After obtaining his degree, he was hired in the Sales Office, moved up to General Manager and then became a Vice-President. We were all so proud of his career accomplishments.
At home, he was a DIY enthusiast and loved to create, build, re-build and tinker. Frank was always looking to make improvements, both inside the house and out in the gardens. His wine knowledge and expertise was vast and one of his favourite things to do was get together with friends and discuss the various merits of many different wines. Creating the best marinades and mastering the art of the perfect barbequed meat was another continuous project.
Frank had a great passion for the outdoors and loved to camp, fish and enjoy the beauty of the clear night sky in front of a campfire. A closet cat lover, Frank doted on his beautiful cat, Bella. There was a special language between the two of them.
He was loved and respected by family and friends and was completely dedicated to his family. There was no joy greater than being with his children and knowing that they were on a good path in life.
He will be sadly missed by all.
Rest in peace.
