Obituary for Florine Mary "Flo" Foster

Foster, Florine Mary "Flo"
Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Columbia Forest LTC on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the age of 88. Loving mother of Rick, Randy (SherryLee), Kim (Elizabeth) and Kyle. Proud Grandma of Kelly, Steven (Lindsay), Hillary (Jason), Zachary, Lia (Reuben), Tyler and Trinity. Dear sister of Alice Opavsky and the late Mary, Ann, Steve and John Tomecek. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.

Flo was blessed to be a talented musician and vocalist. She played piano, organ and sang in churches, choirs and events, all her life. As an adult, Flo earned her Bachelor of Arts at WLU. Her working life was in retail management but her personal life was filled with volunteering for her church, local choir groups, red hat society fellowship, and travel: Italy, Israel, Egypt, Czechoslovakia, Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Florida, and many places across Canada. She lived a rich and full life.

Alzheimer's stole this beautiful woman from us slowly over the last decade. She spent her final few years in the care of the wonderful staff, PSWs, RNs and residents at Columbia Forest LTC, in Waterloo. These angels were a second family to her.

Flo's family will receive relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, and Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519)749-8467.

Flo has been cremated and a memorial service will be held in Chatham, with interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Chatham at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).
